Vesak Day Celebration on 3 June 2007 (Sun), 1 – 3 pm at Hughes Hall

Dear Friends,

Vesak Day is the most important day of the year for the Buddhist community. It commemorates the birth, enlightenment and pari-nibbana of the Buddha on the full moon day of the fourth lunar calendar. This occasion is observed by millions of Buddhists throughout the world. It is a festival of rejoicing and goodwill to all. It is also an occasion for reflection of our own personal spiritual development.

The Cambridge University Buddhist Society will celebrate Vesak Day 2007 (Buddhist Year 2551) on 3 June (Sunday). Details are as follows:

Stress Management and Relaxation Workshop, 18 May (Fri)

Stressed? Anxious? Problems with procastination? Come to our Stress Management and Relaxation Workshop this Friday to find out what you can do about it.

Time: 8:00 pm
Venue: Godwin Room, Clare College
Admission is free

This workshop is aimed at helping students cope with the stress in their work and life. It'll introduce simple yet practical meditation techniques to help keep your mind at the present moment - and on the job! It is conducted by a psychotherapist, also a college counselor who has been teaching meditation for over 20 years.

1. Buddhist Circle, A Circle of Love and Comfort: Reprise

Meeting Chief Rev. Dr. Sumana Siri, 6 - 7pm, 16th Mar (Fri)

Dear friends of CUBS,

If you are free anytime from 6.15 pm – 7.00 pm tomorrow (Friday, 16th March), do come and join us in an informal meeting with Reverend Dr. Sumana Siri at Hughes Hall. You can ask the reverend any questions about Buddhism during the meeting. For your information Reverend Sumanda Siri has recently been appointed the Chief Sangha Nayaka Thera of the U.K.

Reverend Sumana Siri will then proceed to give a talk at Friends Meeting House (12 Jesus Lane) at 7.30pm.
